Once installed:
Go to Applications and double-click Byteseal Autofill Assist Mac.
The app will prompt you to grant the necessary permissions (such as Accessibility and Input Monitoring) required for autofill functionality.
Hey there! Thanks for choosing Byteseal. You're about to set up one of the most secure password managers out there — and the good news is, it's way simpler than it sounds.
By the end of this guide, your passwords will be locked up tight, and filling in logins will be as easy as a tap (or a click). Let's go!
What's in the box?
Your Byteseal Biometric ID (a small fingerprint device that fits in your palm), a charging cable, and a quick-start card. This guide goes into much more detail than that card.
How does Byteseal keep you safe?
Byteseal doesn't rely on just one lock — it stacks multiple layers so that even if someone cracks one, they're stopped by the next:

Why does the setup start on mobile? When you later log in on a computer, Byteseal checks all four factors (phone OTP + master key + fingerprint + device). Your phone is the anchor of this whole chain, so that's where your journey begins.
Byteseal works on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS. Grab the mobile app first — you'll need it before you can do anything on your computer.

On your phone:
On your computer:
The desktop setup needs two apps at once: the Byteseal Desktop App (where you see and manage all your passwords) and the Byteseal Autofill Assist (a small helper that runs in the background and fills in login forms for you).

Windows
Unzip the downloaded file.
Double-click the setup.exe file.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
macOS
First, download the ZIP file for the desktop app.
Unzip the file and drag and drop the Byteseal Desktop app into the Applications folder.
Open the desktop app. It will prompt you to download the Autofill Assist DMG file.
Download the DMG file, then double-click it. In the installer window that appears, drag and drop the app into the Applications folder.
Once installed:
Go to Applications and double-click Byteseal Autofill Assist Mac.
The app will prompt you to grant the necessary permissions (such as Accessibility and Input Monitoring) required for autofill functionality.

Time to make your Byteseal account! This only takes a minute, and it all happens on your phone.
Verify your phone number:
Pick your Master Key:
Next, you'll set a 4-digit Master Key. This is the PIN you'll use to unlock your passwords, so make it something you'll remember.
Super important — remember your Master Key! There's no "forgot PIN" button here. Your Master Key can't be reset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. But don't stress too much — even if someone finds it, they still need your phone and your fingerprint to get in.
Save your first password:
Your account is ready! Let's save your first login.
The “Mandatory Biometric Authentication” toggle will only be visible if a biometric device has already been registered in your profile. If you don’t see this option, follow the next step to add biometric authentication to your profile.Which passwords need biometric protection? Turn it on for the important stuff — bank accounts, primary email, cloud storage. For lower-risk logins (like that recipe blog), master-key-only access is faster and still very secure.
This is the fun part — let's pair your fingerprint device and teach it who you are.
Connect the device:
🤔 Why does the button need a long press? It's on purpose! A 3-second hold stops the device from switching on and off accidentally if you're fidgeting with it or it bumps around in your bag.
Enrol your fingerprints:
This is where the magic happens. Instead of typing passwords every time, Byteseal fills them in for you. The setup is a little different on each platform, so jump to the section that matches your device.
First, tell your phone to use Byteseal:
Next, set up Chrome:
Now, try it out!
Enable Byteseal in your iPhone settings:
Regular passwords (non-biometric protected passwords):
Super straightforward:
Biometric-protected passwords:
For passwords that need your fingerprint, there's one extra step:
Why the extra step on iOS? Apple doesn't let third-party apps trigger hardware authentication directly during autofill. So you need to pop into the Byteseal app to verify your fingerprint first. It's a small detour, and we're working hard to make it smoother in future updates.
Byteseal handles login for desktop apps differently, with a strong focus on both security and convenience. Since desktops are generally less private than smartphones, an additional level of verification is required before granting access to your data.
To ensure account ownership, Byteseal verifies your identity through your registered mobile device. When you open the desktop app, you will be prompted to enter your registered phone number. After entering the number, a push notification will be sent to the device where your Byteseal account is logged in. You can then approve the request on your phone to complete the login process.
Start the Autofill Assist app:
Fill in a login:
💻 Windows users: small difference! On Windows, after clicking the pen icon, use Ctrl + Left Click (instead of a regular click) inside the browser's login field to trigger autofill.
